Chef’s Launch

Douai Abbey

The home of a community of Benedictine monks, set in the countryside between Newbury and Reading. The Abbey offers a wide range of courses and retreats. The Guest House provides accommodation for individuals and groups and is available as a venue for fully catered conferences. The Abbey Church, with its magnificent architecture and rich acoustics, is used regularly for a series of choral, orchestral and chamber concerts.

Thatcham Nature Discovery Centre

An exciting place to discover wetland wildlife. Visitors can enjoy a walk around Thatcham lake, visit the reed bed bird hide or let off steam in the adventure playgrounds. There is a wide range of hands on exhibits in the Discovery Centre set against a dramatic backdrop of giant insect models and colourful banners. Refreshments are available from the Lakeside cafe.
