The Georgian House

One of the most complete 18th century town houses surviving in the UK. Furnished to illustrate life both above and below stairs, rooms on 4 floors give a glimpse into a family household. It also contains a rare cold water plunge bath. Originally the home of the Pinney family, West India merchants.

The Red Lodge

Bristol’s only Tudor Lodge still in existence contains magnificent oak panelling and carved fireplaces. Outside the Elizabethan knot garden is the perfect place to sit in tranquility.

Vistors will not have access to a complete range of visitor services but they will be able to see the work of the National Trust as it progresses. Booking is essential.

John Wesley’s Chapel ’The New Room’

The oldest Methodist building in the world. Built as a meeting room and accommodation after Wesley began to preach in the open air at Bristol 1739. Both the chapel and the living rooms can be visited and contain Wesley’s artefacts including bed, clock, gown and bookshop. The New room was Wesley’s first headquarters for his work.

Charles Wesley’s House

The family home of Charles Wesley, the great Methodist hymn writer. He lived at 4 Charles Street with his wife and three children. The house is arranged as it might have been when they lived there. Visitors can see the parlour, kitchen, music room, study and garden.
