Amersham Museum
A 500 year old house standing in the centre of the historic High Street is the home of Amersham's Museum of
Local History with its own Herb Garden. In the Museum you will be introduced to Amersham's history in a collection
of exhibits from fossil and archaeological finds to the town's more recent past. You will discover the stories of
Amersham during Roman times, the "Amersham Martyrs" and the Medieval wall paintings, the coaching town and
attendant wheelwrights, old local crafts of lace, strawplait work and chairmaking. There are personalities from the
past, scenes of the annual fair, the story of a stately home (Shardeloes), the Brewery, fluctuations of the River
Misbourne, local wildlife, reminders of wartime experiences... and much, much more

Bletchley Park
During World War II the German armed forces top secret codes were broken at Bletchley Park, providing the allies
with vital information towards their war effort. Among the ciphers that were broken were Enigma and Lorenz.

Buckinghamshire County Museum
The Museum showcases the County's rich heritage alongside a changing programme of exhibitions and lots of
interactive fun in the Roald Dahl Children's Gallery. Entry to the museum is free but there is a charge per person
for the Roald Dahl Children's Gallery and pre-booking is
recommended. Please Note there is restricted access to the Roald Dahl Children's Gallery during Buckinghamshire

Chiltern Open Air Museum
Has a wide range of buildings that span 2000 years of history. These range from a 1940's Prefab (originally from
Amersham) to a 19th century Toll House (originally from High Wycombe). There is also an Iron Age settlement
reconstruction and a Victorian Farm Yard. The Farm features rare breed Oxford Down Sheep.

The Cowper and Newton Museum
Home of the 18th Century Poet, Translator and Letter-writer William Cowper. See displays of his works, portraits
and memorabilia, plus those of his friend John Newton. Between them they wrote the Olney hymns - including 'Amazing
Grace'.

Ford End Watermill
A fully operational watermill that has been restored by Pitstone Local History Society. It is the only remaining
working watermill in Buckinghamshire with original machinery. It retains all the atmosphere of a small farm mill of
the late 1800's. An unusual feature is the sheepwash in the tailrace below the mill.

Hellfire Caves
These caves were extended in the 18th. Century by Sir Francis Dashwood, founder of the notorious Hellfire Club.
Long winding passages lead deep underground for over half a mile, through the great Banqueting Hall and past
various chambers. The final destination is the Inner Temple which is reached by crossing the River Styx.

Milton Keynes Museum
Is an independent museum for the local community. The Museum is located in the peaceful surroundings of Stacey
Hill Farm. The displays portray the history and development of the North Buckinghamshire and South Northamptonshire
area.

The Old Gaol Museum
Is the landmark building in Buckingham town centre. Restored extensively by the Buckingham Heritage Trust, it
contains a Museum reflecting the building's history through an audio visual display, aspects of Buckingham's past,
and Buckinghamshire's military history. Has a high-tech glass roof, spanning the original prisoners' exercise yard
to create a light-filled area for special exhibits and the educational resource centre.

Pitstone Green Museum
Houses a vast collection of relics of rural life, both agricultural and domestic, together with crafts and
trades that were once practised by the local community.

Wycombe Museum
Has hands-on activities. It is a great place to discover the history of the district - and the renowned
collection of Windsor chairs. There are children's activities, Buckinghamshire lace, and changing exhibitions.

Brill Windmill
Is a example of a postmill, dating from the 1680's. It is not in working condition, but much of the machinery is
intact, and can be viewed from two floors within the mill.
