Corfe Castle 
Once one of the country's
strongest and most powerful castles, Corfe is now an imposing ruin standing on top of a ridge in the Pirbeck
hills. Started in 1080's the castle has been attacked on a number of occassions throughout it's history. Many
fine Norman and early English features remain.

Portland Castle 
Henry VIII’s stronhold and superb Tudor Castle. One of a chain of artillery forts built
for Henry VIII between 1539 and 1540 to protect the south coast from the threat of attack by the
french.

Sherborne Castle & Lakeside Gardens & Grounds
Built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594, Sherbome Castle has been the home of the Digby family
since 1617. Prince William of Orange was entertained here in 1688, and George III visited in 1789. Splendid
collections of art, furniture and porcelain are on view in the Castle. Lancelot ’Capability
Brown’ created the lake in 1753 and gave Sherborne the very latest in landscape gardening.
