Essex Churches & Cathedrals
Chelmsford Cathedral
One of the smallest cathedrals in England, with parts dating back to the early 1400's.
The Cathedral has been a parish church for centuries and remains so. It became a Cathedral in
1914 and the Bishop´s throne, ´Cathedra´, prominently placed under the East Window, testifies to that. The
Diocese of Chelmsford is now the second largest diocese in the country.
