The Gallery of Costume   

Housed in Platt Hall, the gallery’s collection consists of 20,000 items; 2,000 of which are dresses. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, only a fraction is on display and much remains in storage.

The Lowry     

This art gallery is set in the heart of the regenerated Salford Quays. It is a highly original, distinctive and unusual combination of stainless steel and glass. It has 2 theatres, each with its own unique atmosphere, a Promenade and Galleries. The interior of The Lowry covers an area larger than 5 football pitches. It is located on what once was Pier 8, with the Manchester Ship Canal still lying on two sides of its triangular site. The third side looks out over the newly constructed square

Manchester Art Gallery   

Formerly known as the City Art Gallery, the Manchester Art Gallery houses what is claimed to be one of Britain's best art collections and has recently undergone a £35m makeover. This is the largest of Manchester's Art Galleries, and houses an extensive collection of paintings, sculptures and ceramics, with paintings by Turner, Stubbs and Gainsborough. The collection includes over 2,000 oil paintings, 3,000 watercolours, 250 sculptures and over 10,000 prints.

Whitworth Art Gallery
