Hampshire Regiment Museum

Mary Rose
The only 16th century warship on display anywhere in the world. Built between 1509 and 1511, she was one of the
first ships able to fire a broadside, and was a firm favourite of King Henry VIII. After a long and
successful career, she sank accidentally during an engagement with the French fleet in 1545. Her rediscovery and
raising were seminal events in the history of nautical archaeology.

HMS Victory
This is the oldest commissioned warship in the world, and is still manned by officers and

HMS Warrior
As you arrive at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, the stunning sleek, black lines of Britain's
first iron-hulled, armoured battleship, take your breath away. The pride of Queen Victoria, Warrior revolutionised
warship construction. Powered by steam and sail, she was the largest and fastest ship of her day. Her most radical
innovation was her citadel - an armoured box housing her guns.
