Belgrave Hall
The period rooms show the contrasting lifestyles of an upper middle class family and domestic
servants in a Victorian house and gardens. The Hall is in the midst of two acres of serene walled gardens
that are open to the public. The gardens were an important aspect of the Hall in Victorian times (a status
symbol that showed the family's wealth.

Bell Foundry Museum
Taylor's Bellfoundry, has created a permanent record of the company and the industry, telling
the story of bellfounding through the ages. An extensive range of exhibits and memorabilia tells the story of
one of the oldest manufacturing industries in the world.

Carillon Tower & War Memorial
It was built as a memorial to the Loughborough men who died in the Great War, and looks like
the towers of bells built in parts of Europe, particularly Flanders

Charnwood Museum

Foxton Canal Museum
The Museum was opened in 1989 and is situated in the reconstructed Boiler House of the
lift. It tells the story of the lift and canals it served for the public. The museum researches
the history of the lift and local canals. It holds extensive waterway archives, as well as objects from
the site

Guildhall Museum
The Guildhall is best known as an excellent performance venue, attracting acts from across the
country, and as a museum where visitors can step back in time and come face to face with 'Crankie Gemmie' and
'Emma Smith', two of Leicester's notorious pick-pockets who can be found lurking within the Victorian police
cells. The Guildhall is reputedly Leicester's most haunted building - five ghosts have been reported in
total

Harborough Museum
The district's history is exhibited with displays including important collections of toys, the
Symington Collection of Corsetry, a reconstruction of a local bootmaker's workshop and a programme of

Hinckley Museum
The museum is housed in a row of restored thatched cottages from the mid-seventeenth century
once used for framework knitting. The garden is being planted with traditional cottage garden plants. The
town's history is shown from prehistoric to medieval times, with models of Sapcote's Roman bathhouse,
Hinckley's Norman castle, and the Battle of Bosworth of 1485. You can knit a sock on a Griswold
machine, and discover more about the hosiery and boot and shoe industries in the
area.

The Jewry Wall Museum
The Jewry Wall is one of Leicester's most famous landmarks. It is a rare example of Roman
walling which has survived for nearly 2000 years. Originally it was part of the Roman public baths. It
separated the exercise hall, which stood on the site of St. Nicholas church, from the rest of the
baths.

Lutterworth Museum
The museum tells the story of Lutterworth and the people who have lived there from its past to
its present. There are local objects and photographs, and displays on John Wycliffe, who was the first to
translate the Bible into English, and Sir Frank Whittle, famous for developing the jet
engine.

Newarke Houses Museum
Newarke Houses museum is composed of two historic houses, Wygston' s Chantry House and
Skeffington House. Chantry House is the only Elizabethan urban gentry house in the country.
Skeffington House is thought to have been built by Sir Thomas Skeffington between 1560 and
1583. It was originally a stone building only one room deep. Over the centuries it was enlarged and altered
to extend the accommodation and increase privacy

Rutland Railway Museum
Located in the pleasant countryside of the ancient county of Rutland, four miles from Oakham,
the museum is dedicated to telling the story of railways in industry, especially local ironstone quarrying.
It goes back to the days before mass road transport when most freight was carried by rail and factories,
works and quarries had their own railway systems.
