The makers of Lindisfarne Mead, a sweet, honey based alcoholic drink which is
Northumberland's traditional local drink and was reputedly once made by the monks of Lindisfarne Priory.
The Visitor Centre also sells Mead flavoured preserves and fudge.
Opened in 1995, the first room explores the biology of honeybee and contains a glass
observation hive, where you can watch the busy bees at work. The second room covers bumble bees and wasps.
Several nests are on display. The theme of the third room is 'Bees of the World.' Discover different
species of bee, including one without a sting! Here you can also view beekeeping equipment and learn all
about beekeeping management
The famous herd of Chillingham Wild White cattle are the sole survivors of the cattle which
once roamed the forests of Britain from earliest times. They have been enclosed and undisturbed in the
same 365 acre walled park for over 700 years

An attractive, restored Victorian railway station in a woodland garden with gardening and
art courses.
Heatherslaw Corn Mill
A rare chance to see a 19th century water driven corn mill. Traditional methods and
original machinery powered by the River Till are used to grind locally grown wheat into wholemeal
flour. The huge water wheel, mill stones and gearing are all visible. Freshly milled flour and
local Berwick Biscuits are on sale in the gift shop whilst the mill cafe serves good country fare.

Kielder Water & Forest Park
Exhibitions on the wildlife and of Kielder Forest, plus woodland. Includes the Leaplish

A modern woollen mill shop with an intriguing display of original mill machinery dating
from the days when local farmers would bring their own wool to be woven at the mill. The mill's most
famous product, the Otterburn Pram Rug, as used by the Royal family, is still on sale. A country cafe
serves a range of local meals and snacks with exhibition of textile machines and water turbine.
