Regent Theatre

Two large scale venues the Victoria Hall and the Regent Theatre have benefitted from multi-million pound grants from the lottery and Europe to form the heart of the new Cultural Quarter. The Victoria Hall, a 1,350 seat concert Hall, re-opened in November 1998 and welcomed 50,000 customers within its first two months. Then in September 1999 the Regent Theatre was opened, a 1,600 seat theatre in what was a listed art deco theatre/cinema. Lovingly restored it now boasts productions of grand opera, ballet and drama of an international standard in a venue that is truly world class. 10,000 visited the new venue in its first week alone and it has had an unprecedented reception from the public and press alike. The venue was officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen on 28th October 1999.
